‘Theater Amsterdam’ in the Houthavens

New theatre in the capital city of the Netherlands called Theater Amsterdam.
A new theatre has been developed in the ‘Houthavens’ for the play about Anne Frank. This morning Carolien Gehrels, Deputy Mayor of Amsterdam & Alderman of Culture and Economic Affairs, unveiled the name and location of the new theater built for ANNE together with Kees Abrahams and Robin de Levita. The new theater is called Theater Amsterdam.
ANNE is written by Jessica Durlacher and Leon de Winter at the initiative of the Anne Frank Fonds Basel. The project is being realised by Imagine Nation, the international media company of Kees Abrahams and Robin de Levita. The play is produced in collaboration with the National Theatre. Theu Boermans has the artistic leadership from his role as creative director of National Theatre.

The world premiere of ANNE in April 2014 was also the official opening of Theater Amsterdam. The theater, designed by Dick Veneman, is being constructed specifically for ANNE in the area of the Houthavens, on the west side of Amsterdam.
