IJbaan Amsterdam ready for the next step!
Good news: The plan to set up a cableway that would operate as a crossroad between Zaanstad and Sloterdijk is not in the making yet. The municipality is contributing to the follow-up investigation for a cableway route in order to see what the feasibility and urgency of this new public transport connection is.
Tourists, residents and locals make use of different types of public transport every day in Amsterdam. The follow-up investigation should clarify whether a new type of public transport is valuable. In the future there might be a cable car as a connection between the NDSM site and the Houthavens and the Isolatorweg subway station.
In cities like London, Koblenz and Caracas the cable car transport is very normal. Therefore, a cableway, used as a connection between Zaanstad and Sloterdijk is not that rare. Last month, the municipality of Amsterdam was still critical of the quick scan on the “Jump over the IJ” project group. However, the municipality finds a cableway as an public transport connection between Zaanstad and Sloterdijk interesting enough to do a follow-up study. To be continued…
